A GOD-BREATHED GOAL FOR 2010
“The below two numbers are the goals I felt God speak to me that Dunamis Church Sarnia, as a local church is to reach and push for in 2010!” – Pastor Josh Pitka
- 300 plugged in with CELL GROUPS (see Acts 2:46-47)
- 150 being equipped at Friday night ‘Ninja Training’
(see Ephesians 4:11-16)
A call to leaders and disciples after the heart of God
Are you after the heart of God in 2010?
If you are, then you must be after people. What I mean by that is this: the equivalent of loving God – is loving people.
Jesus said very plainly his purpose for coming to earth was the following:
- To save people from their sin
- To minister to every need of broken humanity around him
- To raise up a church – bride – who loves God with everything they are and lays down their lives, possessions, and all they are for the call to follow Jesus
Then before his ascension to heaven, he gave his disciples these sending words:
“I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
I daresay many hundreds of books have been written about the above commission Jesus gives his disciples. There are many opinions about the words of Jesus and the Bible in general. But something that cannot be refuted are these words which Jesus spoke from Matthew 25:31-46:
But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left.
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
And the King will say, “I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you , you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’
Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’
And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’
And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.
Case in point – As much as your heart and actions reach the people around with whatever you have in the natural and the spiritual, you are reaching, or not reaching, Jesus himself. And the reality of what you really do/did with your life is the reality of where you spend eternity.
The bottom line for Dunamis Church Sarnia is that we are a local church desiring to reach people with the amazing truth that they can be saved, healed, and delivered, and completely set free. They can know God! Getting people saved and getting them discipled in the faith! – that is what we are all about.
So spreading our wings in 2010 to disciple 300 people this year! Won’t you join the eternal race of faith and the cause of Christ, with us?
